Happy Hydroponics, a retail store that supplies a whole variety of supplies you need in order to grow hydroponically!

With this business, I had the responsibility of building the website, handling all the digital marketing and the entire digital presences of the business ( a lot I know, but super duper fun!) 

What I did

  • Launched an e-commerce platform on Shopify, generating over $200,000 in the first year with a marketing budget of $18,200.

  • $71,000 online sales in first quarter of 2024. (Company Record )

  • Ran targeted paid media campaigns on Google and Meta, optimizing spending for better ROI on customer leads and sales.

  • Earned Top Rated Seller Status on eBay, boosting sales to over $205,000 through effective online store management and engaging with customers

  • Implemented SEO strategies to improve online visibility and search rankings.

  • Created content for social media platforms.

  • Analyzed website and user engagement using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and other tools.

  • Worked with vendors and service providers for marketing tool integration.

  • Delivered excellent customer service both in-store and online.

  • Introduced two new product line under the product line Happy.

What I learnt

Managing the digital presence of a retail store with over 3,500 products and their variants is very hard, but a very good experience.

Being by myself means I have to self learn and lean on resources like YouTube tutorials and Reddit forums to learn everything.

My journey included mastering Shopify and search engine optimisation, maximising Google Ads, and digging into social media management and digital customer service.

Exceptional customer service is crucial for building brand loyalty!

Proactive communication, like calling customers to update them about their orders, significantly enhances their perceived value of the brand. Understanding the products thoroughly allows for effective upselling and value addition, crucial for increasing order values.

Google Ads Is Important!

Another thing that I learnt is how important google ads are, having to self learn google ads for the last 1.5 years, I decided to validate my skills by doing an internship. Having done this, I was able to yield a 10x ROAS which help me achieved 200k in the first year of business operations. It comes with time of course, and now changing strategies and utilising what I learn from the agency I was able to make 70k within the first quarter of 2024 with only a budget of $50 a day. It’s the small wins that create results. 80/20 rule.
